Local residents are invited to attend a Wag n' Walk fitness event at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus, Saturday, April 29.
Hosted by the University's Fitness Center, the Wag n' Walk is a 1-mile walk or run intended for participants and their pets. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fitness Center, located on 119 Beach Park Place on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. Refreshments will be provided.
"Dogs are the absolute best workout partners," said Kim Beard, fitness center assistant director and grant coordinator. "Walking with your dog gets you outside in the fresh air for a healthy dose of vitamin D, and it's a win-win for the owner and the dog because a daily dose of exercise is just what the doctor ordered."
A local animal shelter will also be on site with pets for adoption.
This event is sponsored by Health is Golden at Gulf Park, a grant provided by the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation that supports programming and initiatives on the University's Gulf Park campus, which provides education and resources to live a healthier lifestyle.
